Blog presentation

Covid-19, Education, and Racism have been at the forefront of our conversations these past few weeks. Each group presented their topics and submitted their brochures. I believe every group blended in together perfectly, and team leaders helped improve our slides and Brochures.

The Covid pandemic was presented by group 1. They started with very entertaining slides on how the pandemic has affected many Americans mentally to financially.  Schools have now turned to virtual, and masks are forced heavily. Dining rooms across America have shut down till further notice. The presentation felt like I was reliving this last year. Many Americans lost their jobs and now struggle to keep food on the table. With more than 375,000 unemployed Americans, the number seems to keep rising and at an alarming rate. Social distancing has managed to slow down the spread of the virus. The virus has impacted the United States and other countries like China, Italy, and Brazil. Some countries, more than others, have Strictned their borders and have allowed for less travel into and out of their country. The procedures have made a dramatic impact on the rate of Covid in these countries.

Racism was presented by group 2. the presentation dove deep into the roots of racism and what makes a person act that way to another. They talked about Biased attitudes, which could lead to stereotyping. Acts of bias then followed it, which means to say a racial slur or belittling jokes. Systemic  Racism is a form of racism used as a standard practice within society or an organization. It can lead to discrimination in criminal justice, employment, housing, health care, political power, and education, among other topics. Genocide was the last slide presented and taught me a lot about history and why a person would do it. The game at the end of the group presentation was hilarious and highly entertaining. It is hard to make someone enjoyably learn something.

Group 3, being my group, spoke about education and how covid-19 has affected different levels in schooling. To start the presentation, Elementary school was mentioned and had surprising facts and information I would have never known without the presentation. Elementary school kids now have to adapt to using a webcam at their house as if it wasn’t hard enough in person. Middle school kids had to learn a strict curriculum thru a tablet screen for 8 hours a day. Many returned to school with not the slightest clue of past assignments. While most teachers believed a child would sit through 8 hours of continuous schooling while at home, almost all did the complete opposite. High school students have also had to adapt to the rigorous education not to experience the best years of high school. As a member of the 2020 class, my senior year was cut short due to the pandemic, and I lost all hope of doing things any senior would have dreamt of. Group 3 then ended the presentation with a Kahoot game which made the whole lecture more interesting.
